What is BlueChem?

The study BlueChem examined whether an incubator/accelerator for a sustainable chemical industry is technically and economically viable, and whether Blue Gate Antwerp is an appropriate location for it. The study is being carried out by essenscia (the industry association for the chemical industry, life sciences and synthetics), the city of Antwerp, Blue Gate Antwerp nv and FISCH vzw. All Flemish stakeholders are being consulted, and the study is being benchmarked against international standards. The study got underway in September 2012 and will deliver, after 1,5 years, a realisable business plan with an action plan for implementation. This study lays the foundation for realising the incubator/accelerator by 2019 at the latest.

This research is made possible by a subsidy from the Flemish government in the framework of the Agentschap Ondernemen’s (Enterprise Agency) call for projects entitled ‘New factory for the future’, and co-financing from essenscia Flanders, Blue Gate Antwerp nv and the city of Antwerp.
